چکیده
Present study consists the development of superficial neuromast and concentrates on the fabrication method and measurement system. Biomimetic flow sensor of this study consisted of single hair cell that attached perpendicular to subtract and strain gage was used as a sensing element. Simulation and experiment were done for various flow rates 0.1 to 0.5 m/s. Sensitivity of the sensor was obtained as 0.26 mV/ms based on the applied flow rate and output voltage. The experiment of moving object detection have been demonstrated where it enables to detect the moving object at close range 2 cm.

Design and fabrication of artificial lateral line flow sensors
Underwater flow sensing is important for many robotics and military applications, including underwater robots and vessels. We report the development of micromachined, distributed flow sensors based on a biological inspiration, the fish lateral line sensors. Design and fabrication processes for realizing individual lateral line sensor nodes are discussed in this paper, along with preliminary cha...
متن کاملMicro-Machined Flow Sensors Mimicking Lateral Line Canal Neuromasts
Fish sense water motions with their lateral line. The lateral line is a sensory system that contains up to several thousand mechanoreceptors, called neuromasts. Neuromasts occur freestanding on the skin and in subepidermal canals. We developed arrays of flow sensors based on lateral line canal neuromasts using a biomimetic approach. Each flow sensor was equipped with a PDMS (polydimethylsiloxan...

Advances in low-power electronics design and wireless communication have enabled the development of low cost, low power micro-sensor nodes. These sensor nodes are capable of sensing, processing and forwarding which have many applications such as underwater networks. In underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs) applications, sensors which are placed in underwater environments and predicted ena...
متن کاملImaging dipole flow sources using an artificial lateral-line system made of biomimetic hair flow sensors.
In Nature, fish have the ability to localize prey, school, navigate, etc., using the lateral-line organ. Artificial hair flow sensors arranged in a linear array shape (inspired by the lateral-line system (LSS) in fish) have been applied to measure airflow patterns at the sensor positions. Here, we take advantage of both biomimetic artificial hair-based flow sensors arranged as LSS and beamformi...
متن کاملArtificial lateral-line system for imaging dipole sources using beamforming techniques
In nature, fish have the ability to localize prey, school, navigate, etc. using the lateral-line organ [1]. Here we present the use of biomimetic artificial hair-based flow-sensors arranged as lateral-line system in combination with beamforming techniques for dipole source localization in air. Modelling and measurement results show the artificial lateral-line ability to image the position of di...
